Research And Monitoring Department
The responsibilities of the Research and Monitoring Department include consulting and advising the Government on participation and ratification of various international and regional human rights treaties and providing consultation on the implementation of such treaties in the Maldives. Further, as per the Second Amendment (Act No. 2020/19) to the Human Rights Commission Act (Act No. 2006/6), the research and monitoring function is mandated to prepare the Human Rights Report on the matters mentioned in Article 20 (twenty) of the Human Rights Commission Act (6/2006). The Research and Monitoring department conducts activities to monitor human rights in the context of elections and proposes recommendations to relevant state institutions to enhance electoral rights in the Maldives. Additionally, the research and monitoring department also participates and corporates with other functions of the commission in efforts to promote and protect human rights in the Maldives.
