The Whistleblower Protection Unit was instituted by Maldives statute 16/2019 (Whistleblower Protection Act). This is an independent unit within the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.

Main responsibilities of Whistleblower Protection Unit are;

    Ensuring rights of whistleblowers are honored as per the Whistleblower Protection Act, forwarding complaints to the relevant authorities, and investigating complaints filed with the Whistleblower Protection Unit.

Lodging complaints:

Complaints can be directed to the Unit anonymously in accordance with the Whistleblower Protection Act of the Maldives. If you need additional information about your complaint or want the Unit to contact you for additional information, please provide your name, email address, and phone number.

When you lodge a complaint, disclose all information you have regarding the case including information on the individuals who engaged in an act of improper conduct specified in Article 3 of the Whistleblower Protection Act, information on the individuals who may have been aware of the improper conduct, and the date and time period of the improper conduct.
