World Whistleblowers Day Marked with Art Exhibition in Malé

June 23rd, observed globally as World Whistleblowers Day, was commemorated in the Maldives with an art exhibition organized by the Whistleblower Protection Unit at the National Art Gallery. The day serves to recognize and honor individuals who come forward to report malpractice and unethical practices.
The exhibition was officially opened by Enrico Boninsegna, Head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Maldives Office. Speaking at the ceremony were Director General of the Whistleblower Protection Unit Mariyam Rifna Lateef, Assistant Director Fathimath Masha, Transparency Maldives’ Executive Director Aishath Rilweena, and guest of honor Enrico Boninsegna.
As part of the opening event, the Whistleblower Protection Unit launched its new official logo. The winning design, created by Ahmed Nabeeh, was selected from among 70 submissions and received the highest score from the judging panel. Nabeeh also presented a video introduction of the logo to attendees.
The exhibition showcases 12 artworks reflecting themes of whistleblowing, which are also available for public purchase. It will remain open until 10:00 p.m. on June 24th.
