A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to share experience, expertise, and resources, and to build staff capacity. Under this agreement, the Civil Service Training Institute (CSTI) will coordinate the activities on behalf of the CSC.
The President of the HRCM, Dr. Aishath Rameela, and the President of the Civil Service Commission, Al-Usthadh Mohamed Mujuthaz, addressed the participants at the ceremony. In her remarks, Dr. Aishath Rameela primarily highlighted the importance of instilling human rights principles within state institutions and enhancing staff capacity. Meanwhile, Al-Usthadh Mohamed Mujuthaz focused his speech on how such partnerships would strengthen civil service operations and further elevate the quality of services provided to the public.
Under this MoU, HRCM staff will be provided opportunities to access CSTI training programs and facilities, and awareness sessions on human rights and whistleblowing will be conducted specifically for civil service employees. Furthermore, both parties agreed to conduct collaborative research, seminars, and workshops, design training curricula incorporating human rights components, and exchange technical assistance between the two institutions.
