The Secretary General of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), Ms. Aishath Shaheen Najmee, has chaired the second virtual meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions' (APF) Senior Executive Officers (SEO) Network series. Conducted under the theme "Strengthening Organisational Governance through Staff Development," the meeting primarily focused on measures that can be taken to enhance and sustain the operational capacities of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) to effectively fulfill their mandates.
The APF is a regional network dedicated to fostering cooperation among National Human Rights Institutions across the Asia-Pacific region, strengthening institutional governance, and supporting the protection and promotion of human rights. As an APF member, HRCM actively participates in regional platforms that facilitate the exchange of information and expertise, as well as the strengthening of inter-institutional relationships. The APF Senior Executive Officers (SEO) Network series provides a dedicated platform for senior officials of APF member institutions to discuss common challenges, share experiences, and explore practical solutions to reinforce organizational governance.
This session served as a vital opportunity to exchange practical experiences among institutions across the region, strengthen internal governance, and identify actionable pathways for institutional advancement.
