The Human Rights Commission is concerned over the political unrest in the country since the Presidential Election. In this regard, the Commission condemns the calls of threats and harm to persons, personal property as well as party property.

Furthermore, the Commission is also concerned over incidents at the People’s Majlis Session on the 22nd of September 2013. In this regard, the Commission condemns in strict terms, the acts of violence, the use of explicit language and the damage done to State property by the Majlis Members.

As freedom of expression and freedom of assembly are both guaranteed by the Constitution, the Commission calls upon the responsible parties, political parties and all citizens to uphold the laws and regulations, and to act in such a way that the peace and harmony of nation is maintained.
